Look into our week Unit 1-week 3

Good afternoon parents and guardians, 

Be sure to check out our Shutterfly page for our latest classroom pictures. If you would like access, please email me for a special invite. Soon all parents/guardians will be given access to teachers grade books. I try to update my grades right away after the students take a test.

 Please help me reinforce the following hand signals and rules: 
Hand Signals: (show me the number of fingers in the air)
1 finger: restroom
Encourage your child to use the restroom before school, during recess, during lunch, during PE and after school.
2 fingers:water
Children may bring their own water bottle to keep in class, please LABEL it with their name
3 fingers: pencil
Student may replace their dull or broken pencil for a new one
4 fingers: tissue
when needed, please ask student to sit back down right away
5 fingers: question

Classroom rules:
#1: Listen while the teacher is talking
#2: Follow directions quickly
#3: Respect others, respect yourself, respect your school
#4: Raise your hand to speak or stand
#5: Keep your hands to yourself
#6: Keep your dear teacher happy

Language Arts: Unit 1-week 3
  • Theme: Apples
  • Story of the week: "Apple Trouble"
  • Poem of the week: "Apple Song"
  • Letter(s) of the week: O, P, Q, R, S
    • Home activities: Look for the letter(s) Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss (in all types of fonts)
    • Say words that begin with Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss
    • Draw pictures that begin with Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss
    • Sound  out  blend CVC words (determine if real or silly)
      •  rat, lop, sad, got, wob, pop
  • Weekly reading comprehension test: Every Friday (Based on the comprehension skill of the week)

Math: Chapter 2-Numbers to 5 (lessons 1.1)
Science: Parts of an apple
  • Students will be able to name the different parts of an apple
Social Studies: Good citizens
  • Students will be able to describe ways people can be good citizens
    Writing: The Writing house
    • Writing TALL letters
      • Write the letters from the roof to the floor
    • Practice paper (print and use at home)
