Look into our week 4/27-5/1

Good morning parents and guardians,

I hope everyone had a great work week! We are getting closer to the end (the students are in the brother and sister phase), and a few of our kiddos are ready for summer. Please remind them to always try their best and follow all of the rules. It would be great if you could talk to them about keeping their hands to themselves (and their entire body) and of course raising their hand to speak or stand. THANK YOU in advance for working with us on this.

                  Here is some important news from the PTO and dates to keep in mind:
EVERY FRIDAY IN APRIL-FREE DRESS FOR OUR CLASS
4/27-Spring pictures-FREE DRESS
4/29: Wacky Wednesday
-List of possible donations is available on our wonderful easel outside the classroom and of course through email (THANK YOU TO OUR WONDERFUL ROOM MOMS!)
4/30: Awards assembly for month of April

Future Dates:
5/5: Cinco de Mayo 
-Performance and celebration right after
5/8: Muffins for moms @ 7:15 am
5/21: Spring performance 
6/17: STEAM Expo
6/19: Donuts for dads


MobyMax
Continue to use Mobymax at home whenever your child gets a chance. Every child's learning is individualized! This is a great, fun program for the kids to use to reinforce math and language arts skills.


Here is a look into our new week

Language Arts:
  • Story: Unit 5-Week 4 "The little engine that could"


Writing:
  • Writing stories
    • Roll-a-story
      • Character-setting
Math:
  • Continue with Chapter 17: Subtraction stories
    • Students will be able to represent subtraction stories with subtraction sentences
    • Students will be able to compare two sets and show the number sentence to answer, how many more
    • Students will be able to subtract fluently to 5
Science:
  •  Clouds
    • 3 cloud types (cirrus, cumulus and stratus)
Social Studies/Leadership:
  • Unit 4-Lesson 4: How can we show a neighborhood?
    • Students will be able to construct maps and models of neighborhoods.
  • Leadership: Service and responsibility

I hope everyone is enjoying this Saturday morning so far. I will be out of the classroom all day this Tuesday (will still be on campus), please review the rules with your child and remind them to be on their best behavior with the substitute.

    • Students will be able to represent subtraction stories with subtraction sentences
Science:
  •  Test Chapter 8: Motion
    • Students will be able to use position words to tell where objects are located.
    • Students will be able to tell that a push or a pull can change how an object moves.
    • Students will be able to order objects by how fast they move.
    • Students will b able to identify objects a magnet attracts.

Look into our week 4/6-4/10

Good morning parents and guardians,

I hope everyone had a great Spring Break! I can't wait to get back into the classroom and create more learning experiences and wonderful memories. We are getting closer to the end of the school year, but before that happens we have a lot more learning to do, to get our kiddos ready for first grade!

Here is some important news from the PTO and dates to keep in mind:

4/6: Open enrollment ends
4/15: Coffee with director @ 8:30
4/17: Family Lunch Friday resumes (K lunch at 11:00)
4/21: Emergency Drill

NEW HOMEWORK:
The kindergarten team is doing their part to help save paper. As you may have seen, our homework packets have changed. Math has stayed the same (2 practice pages) but Language Arts has been scaled down to fit on one page and students are required to attach their proof of work to receive full credit. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me or stop by the classroom.

  • Chapter 15: Length and height
    • Students will be able to compare lengths
    • Students will be able to use nonstandard units to measure and compare lengths
    • Students will be able to understand tallest and shortest in terms of height
    • Test Friday-Key vocabulary: long, short, longer, shorter, longest, shortest
Science:
  • Continues learning about Oviparous animals
    • Students will be able to describe oviparous animals.
Social Studies/Leadership:
  • Social studies: Thomas Jefferson
  • Leadership: Service
