Look into our week 1/30-2/3

Good afternoon parents and guardians, 

Be sure to check our our Shutterfly page for our latest classroom pictures. If you would like access, please email me for a special invite. Also, don't forget all parents/guardians were given access to teachers grade books. I try to update my grades right away after the students take a test.


With a new year upon us, some of our classroom supplies have begun to run low. Donations of the following items would be greatly appreciated!
-glue sticks
-Large writing pencils
-Baby wipes
-Disinfecting wipes

 Please continue to reinforce the following hand signals and rules: 
Hand Signals: (show me the number of fingers in the air)
1 finger: restroom
Encourage your child to use the restroom before school, during recess, during lunch, during PE and after school.
2 fingers:water
Children may bring their own water bottle to keep in class, please LABEL it with their name
3 fingers: pencil
Student may replace their dull or broken pencil for a new one
4 fingers: tissue
when needed, please ask student to sit back down right away
5 fingers: question
question for me to give more information on

Classroom rules:
#1: Listen while the teacher is talking
#2: Follow directions quickly
#3: Respect others, respect yourself, respect your school
#4: Raise your hand to speak or stand
#5: Keep your hands to yourself
#6: Keep your dear teacher happy

Language Arts: Unit 3-week 6: "The Lion and the Mouse"

  • Unit 3 final-Thursday
    • Review all Unit 3 HFW: me, with, she, see, look, they, you, of
    • Rhyming words
    • Initial sounds (identify words/pictures that begin with same sound)
    • CVC words
Words to talk about: words found in the story
Words to read: HFW/Sight words
  • Letter(s) of the week: Oo
  • Weekly reading comprehension test: Every Friday (Based on the comprehension skill of the week)
  • High Frequency Words (HFW-also known as Sight words : Same set of words last for two weeks. These words are meant to be read just by seeing them.
    • This week's words: they, you, of
Math: Unit 8-Measurement
Science: Chapter 4-Plants and Animals
  • Students will be able to match baby and adult animals
  • Students will be able to tell how plants change as they grow
Social Studies: Groundhogs Day
  • Students will be able to state facts about Groundhogs Day
Writing: The Writing house
  • "I will" sentences
  • Practice paper (print and use at home)

  • CVC reading test on FRIDAY
  • 5 points-students reads CVC word without sounding out loud "cat
  • 4 points-students sounds out word then reads whole word "c-a-t, cat"
  • 3 points-student only says sounds for letters but not does blend word correctly or does not blend sounds at all "c-a-t" or "c-a-t cap"
  • 2 points-student only says 2 letter sounds
  • 1 point-student only says 1 letter sound

    Words to talk about: words found in the story
    Words to read: HFW/Sight words
    Math: Unit 5-Shapes
      • Begin Unit 5: shapes-TEST FRIDAY
      Science: Chapter 3-Living and non-living things
