Look into our week 2/1-2/5

Good morning parents and guardians,

With a new year upon us, a few of our classroom supplies are running low. If you are able to donate any of the following items, it would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU in advance!
Our class is running low on:
-Glue (for our glue sponges)
-Kleenex
-Quart size plastic baggies
-Lysol Disinfecting Spray
-Clorox Wipes
-Baby Wipes
-Painter's tape

Scholastic book orders can always be placed online using the link to the right of the page and they will arrive quicker. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me or stop by the classroom.

February family project: Valentines Day Box! The project will be due February 10 (can be turned in before this) and presentations will occur the following day. Feel free to get as creative as you would like! Project information will be going home with student's homework this week. Here are some examples I found online:







Some important dates to keep in mind:
February
2/1: Meet the masters art lesson
2/3: Global day of play
-Students are allowed to bring toys in this day to school (no electronics or weapon like toys)
-Exp: dolls, action figures, legos,tea sets, jump ropes, hula hoops, etc
-Students may also bring boxes and sheets to build forts
-Please send items in a  bag/backpack so students can pack up their belongings when needed

2/11: Valentines Celebration (THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE THAT HAVE SIGNED UP!)
2/12: NO SCHOOL-Lincoln's Birthday
2/15: NO SCHOOL-President's day
2/16: Emergency Drill
2/17: 100th day of school (THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE THAT HAVE SIGNED UP!)
Students may come dressed as 100 year olds!

2/24: Wacky Wednesday (more information to come)
2/26: Awards @8am

Here is a look into our new week

Language Arts:
  • Story: Unit 3-Week 6 "The Lion and the mouse"


  • Unit 3 final HFW: me, with, she, see, look, they, you, of
Writing
  • Begin Unit 5: informational writing
Math:
  • Finish Chapter 9: Comparing Sets
    • Students will be able to understand fewer and less
    • Students will be able to compare sets up to 20
    • Students will be able to count the difference through comparing sets in one-to-one correspondence
  • Begin Chapter 10: Ordinal Numbers
    • Students will be able to sequence events
    • Students will be able to understand first, second and third in terms of position
    • -Students will be able to rank, first, second and third.
Science:
  • Chapter 7: Matters and Mixtures
    • Understand solids, liquids and gases
Social Studies:
  • Groundhog day and Valentines Day

This is an awesome individualized learning program. Students will also have access to this program during centers (iPads). Also, parents still have access to our grade books. My grade book is updated on a weekly basis.
