Look into our week 3/2-3/6

Good morning parents and guardians,

Time is sure passing us really fast! We are getting closer to our kiddos becoming 1st graders. The other day some of my former students came in to help, and I told my kids that could be them next year. They were really excited to know they would be first graders who could come back to visit me and help my newer, smaller kindergartners, BUT before this happens we have lots more learning to do and more memories to create!

PTO is currently hosting PIZZA*4*PAPER. More information can be found below. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

3/4-Crazy sock day (wear crazy socks!)

*I will be out this Thursday for my BTSA credentialing program. Please remind your child to be on their best behavior this day!

Language Arts:
  • Story: Unit 4-Week 3 "One little mouse"



Math:
  • Finish Chapter 12:Counting on and counting back
    • Students will be able to revisit ordering numbers to 10 with one to one correspondence
    • Students will be able to count on to 10
    • Students will be able to count back using fingers
    • Students will be able to count back from 10
    • Students will be able to count up and back to find the difference between two sets
  • Begin Chapter 13: Patterns
    • Students will be able to recognize, extend and create a repeating pattern
Science:
  • Planets in our solar system
    • Students will be able to name at least two planets and two facts about each.
Social Studies/Leadership:
  • Dr. Seuss 
    • Read-Cat in the hat
      • Create hat, design the cat a new cat and list -at words

Look into our week 2/23-2/27

What short but FUN past two weeks! I hope your kiddos had a great time at our 100th day celebration! 2/23 Returning students-enrollment packets due!

2/23: Black History Month Performance 1:30-3:00
-Kindergarten will be singing a Martin Luther King song
-Feel free to have students practice the song at home

2/25:Wacky Wednesday from 11:00-12:00
-Feel free to stop by to help
-Students will work with a partner to "Save Fred"

2/26 Awards Assembly @ 8am

2/27: Meet the Masters with Mr. Ruben (Art lesson)

    • Students will be able to identify and compare ways to use objects based on their characteristics

      Look into our week 2/9-2/12

      Good morning parents and guardians, 

      I hope you are all enjoying the weekend! As mentioned in my previous posts we have two celebrations coming up (more information and  a sign up sheet is available on the easel outside of the classroom-almost all donated items have been signed to be donated-THANK YOU): Valentines day and 100th day of school.
      Our Valentines day celebration will be Feb 12 and our 100th day celebration will be Feb 18. 
      I sent home a flier last week regarding the Valentines Day Card box-Family project. Here are some more ideas. You do not need to be limited to a shoe box or cereal box, even water/milk gallons work!








      Some big news about 100th day, students this year are allowed to dress up as 100 year old (school wide)!  Here are some ideas:

        • Unit 3 test:
          • HFW covered this unit: me, with, she, see, look, they, of and you
      Math:
      • Finish Chapter 9: Comparing Sets and test
        • Comparing sets up to 10
          • Students will be able to understand fewer and less and identity each group
        • Comparing sets 11-20
        • Comparing sets to find the difference
          • Students will be able to count the difference through comparing sets in one-to-one correspondence.
        • Combining sets
          • Students will be able to add using number trains and count on using fingers
      • Begin Chapter 10 : Ordinal numbers
        • Sequence events
          • Students will be able to sequence events

      Science:
      • Finish Chapter 7: Matters and Mixtures and test
        • Students will be able to identify and measure solid objects.
        • Students will be able to observe how liquids take the shape of their containers.
        • Students will be able to tell that gases fill their containers
        • Students will be able to tell how water changes by freezing, melting and boiling
        • Student will be able to tell what is in a mixture
      • Yesterday's science projects-a little messy but fun!
      Social Studies:
      • US presidents
        • Abraham Lincoln and George Washington
      Leadership:
      • Resilience- Black struggles for equality
