Peek at our week 10/20-10/24

Good morning parents and guardians,

I hope you all had a great week! The month of October is about half way done, and our class has learned so much and had fun doing it. This week we learned about ways to stay healthy. Some of our week's activities were:
-learning about germs and why it is important to cover your mouth and wash your hand (we had fun with glitter this day)
-We also learned about healthy and junk foods (the students had a scavenger hunt using weekly ads and tried to locate as many healthy food and junk food to place on their paper)
-We discussed different types of marathons. We specifically went over the Color Run to get them more excited about it next week.
-Finally, for our Foody Fun Friday activity this week we made mouths! The kids had so much fun, and got a little messy. The activity was really easy to do, and had a Halloween twist.

  • 2 Apple slices smothered with peanut butter. Sandwiched in-between the slices were small marshmallows! Thats it! Easy-peazy!
    • Some quotes from yesterday
      • "Miss. Maciel this is so much fun!"
      • "I love this school!"
      • "This is the best day ever!"
      • "Can we eat this already?"
      • With a full mouth-"This is soooooo good…and healthy"
    • I love moments like this in my classroom. I shared pictures of this week on our shutter fly page. If you would like access please let me know and I can sign you up :)

B. Y. O. T (bring your own technology)

  • If your attended the meeting and sighed the proper paperwork, students may begin to bring their devices. I will be posting a list of apps soon that I am familiar with.
  • For now please download a QR reader. I have many stories that are linked to QR codes. If students bring their own headphones they can scan the code and sit quietly anywhere in the room to listen to a story.

Peek at our week 10/13-10/17

Good morning parents and guardians,

I hope you all had a great week! Did your kiddos come home and tell you about the boats we made in class? They were beyond excited during the week as we learned about Christopher Columbus and how different kinds of boats are made. They were even more excited yesterday when I began to set up! Everytime I explained an item they screamed! It was the best feeling for me as a teacher. I try my best to create moments like this, moments of fun learning. Some students got really creative with their boats, it was an amazing day!

Meet our room parents!!!!!

Hello Parents and Guardians:
We just wanted to take a quick second and introduce ourselves to you, as we will be the Room Parents for Miss Maciel’s amazing Kindergarten class this year. My name is Regina Shanta (Norah’s mom) and I, along with Nieves Valenzuela (Samantha’s mom) will be helping throughout the year in organizing class parties, projects, and any other events that may require parent involvement.
There will be times we may need to ask for donations for items needed in the room or for supplies necessary for fun activities. We understand that it is not always easy to spend extra money but if we all can pitch in just a little every now and then it will enable our children to have so many more fun and learning experiences than many other schools are not able to provide! It will be our kids who reap the benefits of your generosity and kindness!!
If you can provide either Miss Maciel or us with your email address we think it would be a much easier form of communication, as it seems letters sent home in backpacks could often be lost.  Anytime you have a question or would like to help in anyway please feel free to contact us.
Reach is such a special school and Miss Maciel is beyond an extraordinary teacher; we look forward to getting to know you all as we enjoy this magical year of Kindergarten together!! Thank you!!
Fondly,
Regina Shanta: text: 951-500-7494 email: reginashanta@att.net
