Look into out week: unit 6 wk 1 (4/28-5/3)

Good afternoon parents and guardians,

Families, don't forget to use SMARTY ANTS at home. Log in information was given at back to school night. This is an amazing reading program that is also INDIVIDUALIZED! If your child still needs help with letter sounds, it will help them with that. If your child is ready to read CVC words, it will challenge them in that.

 Please help me reinforce the following hand signals and rules: 
Hand Signals: (show me the number of fingers in the air)
1 finger: restroom
Encourage your child to use the restroom before school, during recess, during lunch, during PE and after school.
2 fingers:water
Children may bring their own water bottle to keep in class, please LABEL it with their name
3 fingers: pencil
Student may replace their dull or broken pencil for a new one
4 fingers: tissue
when needed, please ask student to sit back down right away
5 fingers: question

#3: Respect others, respect yourself, respect your school

End of year events for our class:
ABC Countdown

Language Arts: Unit 6-week 1
  • Theme:  Cooking
  • Story of the week: "Gaspacho for nacho"
  • Poem of the week: "Stone soup" 
  • High Frequency Words (HFW-also known as Sight words : Same set of words last for two weeks. These words are meant to be read just by "seeing" them)
    • This week's words-REVIEW: do, little, with, what

Math: END OF YEAR REVIEW
  • Students will be able review math concepts since the beginning of the school year
    • Numbers to 10 and 20
      • Count by tens and ones
      • Missing numbers
    • Inequalities
    • Adding and subtracting
    • Number bonds
Science: DINOSAURS
  • Students will be able to describe and name different dinosaurs
  • Students will begin to get ready for STEAM Expo
      Writing: The Writing house


      • Write a sentence that contains a WHOWHAT,  WHERE, when and WHY
        • Exp: The cat can run at the park at 5 o'clock because he wanted to run around.
        • Exp: A girl is running to her house at 10 o'clock because she needed to do her homework.
        • write letters in correct part of house
        • do 5 point check
          • Start with a capital
          • Have 2 finger space
          • No flying letters
          • End with a period
          • Does your sentence make sense?
      • Practice paper (print and use at home
