Look into our week: Unit 4 wk 3 (2/11-2/14)

Good afternoon parents and guardians,

WHAT A FUN FILLED WEEK! Day of play was fun and our 100th day was AMAZING!
Thank you to all the families that donated towards our celebration. I hope your kiddos had a ton of fun! Be sure to check our Shutterfly page for pictures.

Families, don't forget to use SMARTY ANTS at home. Log in information was given at back to school night. This is an amazing reading program that is also INDIVIDUALIZED! If your child still needs help with letter sounds, it will help them with that. If your child is ready to read CVC words, it will challenge them in that.

 Please help me reinforce the following hand signals and rules: 
Hand Signals: (show me the number of fingers in the air)
1 finger: restroom
Encourage your child to use the restroom before school, during recess, during lunch, during PE and after school.
2 fingers:water
Children may bring their own water bottle to keep in class, please LABEL it with their name
3 fingers: pencil
Student may replace their dull or broken pencil for a new one
4 fingers: tissue
when needed, please ask student to sit back down right away
5 fingers: question

#3: Respect others, respect yourself, respect your school

  • TEST: CVC reading test with blends
    • First Sound Fluency
    • Segmenting words
  • Theme:  Coding/video games
  • Story of the week: "Have Fun Molly Lou Mellon"
  • Poem of the week: "100th day"
  • Letter(s) of the week: L blends
    • Home activities: Look for the letter(s) L blends (in all types of fonts)
      • Say words that begin with L blends
        • Bl, Cl, Fl, Gl, Pl, Sl
      • Draw pictures that begin with L blends
      • Sound  out  blend CCVC words (determine if real or silly)
        •  Blin, clap, flap, glot, plan, slim
    • Songs:
  • Weekly reading comprehension test: Every Friday (Based on the comprehension skill of the week)
  • High Frequency Words (HFW-also known as Sight words : Same set of words last for two weeks. These words are meant to be read just by "seeing" them)
Math: Chapter 9-Addition
Science: coding
  • Students will be able to describe what coding is
  • Students will be able to use a binary code
    • spell words with binary code
Social Studies: Computer Science
  • Students will be able to describe some of the history of computer science

      • Begin RAINBOW WRITING
      • Write a sentence that contains a WHO and a WHAT
        • write letters in correct part of house
        • do 5 point check
          • Start with a capital
          • Have 2 finger space
          • No flying letters
          • End with a period
          • Does your sentence make sense?
      • Practice paper (print and use at home)
