Look into our week 10/24-28 (last full week of October)

Good afternoon parents and guardians, 
What a great first WACKY WEDNESDAY! Thank you to all the families that were able to donate items. 
Please remember to turn in permission slip for our trip to UCR. We are still in need of volunteers, if interested, please let me know!
Here is a look into our new week (RED RIBBON WEEK)

 Please continue to reinforce the following hand signals and rules: 
Hand Signals: (show me the number of fingers in the air)
1 finger: restroom
Encourage your child to use the restroom before school, during recess, during lunch, during PE and after school.
2 fingers:water
Children may bring their own water bottle to keep in class, please LABEL it with their name
3 fingers: pencil
Student may replace their dull or broken pencil for a new one
4 fingers: tissue
when needed, please ask student to sit back down right away
5 fingers: question

Classroom rules:
#1: Listen while the teacher is talking
#2: Follow directions quickly
#3: Respect others, respect yourself, respect your school
#4: Raise your hand to speak or stand
#5: Keep your hands to yourself
#6: Keep your dear teacher happy

-Wednesday: Wear favorite team's sport shirt/jersey

Language Arts: Unit 2-week 2: "Nature Spy"

  • CVC reading test-mix of S, A, T, M words
  • First Sound Fluency (say beginning sounds of words)

Words to talk about: words found in the story
Words to read: HFW/Sight words
  • Letter of the week: S
  • Weekly reading comprehension test: Every Friday (Based on the comprehension skill of the week)
  • High Frequency Words (HFW-also known as Sight words : Same set of words last for two weeks. These words are meant to be read just by seeing them.
    • This week's words: have, is
  • Sight Word Sundaes: (HFW word list): Every time your child passes a word list, they will be given the next list to practice and will be given a part of their Sundae. Please color, cut out at home and return back to me. I will be hanging these up in the classroom.

Math: Unit 2-numbers to 10 (3.8-3.11)
  • Unit 3-Numbers to 10
    • Students will be able to count and say up to 10
      • Count and cross items out
    • Match items to 10
      • 1-1 item, 2-2 items, 3-3 items, etc.
Science: Bones
  • Students will be able to state facts about bones
Social Studies: Halloween around the world
  • Students will be able to state facts about Halloween around the world

Writing: The Writing house
  • Write-first letter sound identification
