Welcome back…look into our week 1/4-1/8

Good morning parents and guardians,

Welcome back, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am excited to get back into the classroom and see my kiddos to create new memories with them. We are getting closer to the 100th day of school and our kiddos becoming first graders. Time will fly by but until then we will keep on learning and have fun doing it.

Scholastic book orders can always be placed online using the link to the right of the page and they will arrive quicker. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me or stop by the classroom.

January family project: New year resolutions! The project will be due January 15 (can be turned in before this) and presentations will occur that day. Feel free to get as creative as you would like! The project will be going home with student's homework this week.

  • Story: Unit 3-Week 2 "Little Quack"

Writing
  • Continue: Writing for a reason
Math:
  • Test-Chapter 7: Shapes
  • Begin Chapter 8: Numbers to 100
    • Count to 100 by 2's, 5's and 10's
    • Count to 49 using tens (rod or a bundle) and ones (single)
Science:
  • Chapter 3: Living and nonliving things
Social Studies:
  • Unit 6-Lesson 2: Who are people in history?

Please feel free to email me or stop by with any questions or concerns. Students will be given access to MobyMAx with week. Please try using the online program at home. Students may do Language Arts or Math. This is an awesome individualized learning program. Students will also have access to this program during centers (iPads). Also, parents still have access to our grade books. My grade book is updated on a weekly basis.

Look into our week 12/14-12/18

Good morning parents and guardians,


Parent conferences are coming up. Paper reminders went home on Friday. Email reminders are also going home through the sign up web site. Looking forwards to meeting with everyone and handing out report cards.

-Students have free dress this day (Christmas attire is encouraged)
-Students will be wearing their "Secret projects" shirts for the performance

12/17: Grinchmas Celebration-Students may wear Pj's but will still need to wear regular shoes (no slippers or sandals)

What an amazing week after our first week long break. I was beyond proud of my kiddos getting back into their routines. They did amazing during all of their centers!

Parents have been asking about volunteering in the classroom. REACH allows parents to work with students for 3 days, after this they need to be finger printed. More information can be found in the office. The following would be the best times for parents to come in and help (working with students in small groups).
If you would like to help on any day, please let me know at least one day in advance.
Monday/Tuesday/Thursday:
-Math: 9:30-10:30
-Writing Centers: 10:30-11:00
-Centers: 1:45-2:15
Wednesday:
-Writing centers: 8:20-8:50
Math: 9:30-10:15
Centers: 11:45-12:15
Friday (except on award days and Unit test days):
-Centers: 8:30-9:00
-Math: 9:30-10:30
-Writing centers: 10:30-11:00
